Can an e-Rater grade the truth?

A study by the College of Education at the University of Akron found that computers can accurately grade test essays, but New York Times columnist, Michael Winerip, explores how the “e-Rater” can be faulty.  Les Perelman, director of writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, explains that the e-Rater “can’t identify truth.”
