Researcher questions if college students receive unnecessary remediation

Judith-Scott Clayton, assistant professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, asks “Are College Entrants Overdiagnosed as Underprepared?” in a New York Times blog post.  Her research at an urban community college shows that approximately one-fourth of students in math or English remedial classes could have passed with a “B” or higher.
