Similar Schools, Hugely Different Report Cards

In his most recent NY Times column, Michael Winerip takes a look at two schools within walking distance from each other in the Bronx. They have similar conditions, yet one scored an “A” on its most recent city report card and the other scored an “F.” Winerip looks at the way the grades are determined and discusses how much sense it makes to weigh student progress so heavily.
