The New Yorker’s Shouts and Murmurs section tackles some new SAT practice questions this week.

Here’s an example:

9. Reading comprehension. Consider the following exchange:
“Why don’t you like to be touched?” I whisper, staring up into soft gray eyes.
“Because I’m fifty shades of fucked up, Anastasia.”

What does the final line of dialogue indicate?

(a) Christian is fearful of his responsibilities at Grey Enterprises Holdings Inc.
