A judge served New York City with a temporary restraining order on Tuesday that blocked officials from imposing up to $260 million in cuts to school funding this year, Reuters reports. Although, last month, a court barred the state from withholding the funds from New York City for its failure to strike a deal with the teachers’ union, the city went ahead with spending reduction plans anyway. This prompted parents and students to seek a court order to stop cuts that would see reductions in school staff and extracurricular activities.
