This week New York City chancellor, Dennis Walcott sent public school teachers guidelines recommending how they should conduct themselves online on websites like Facebook and Twitter, reports the Wall Street Journal. The social media guidelines, which were in the works for six months, suggest that teachers should avoid ‘friending’ students online. The decision comes following the arrests of several Department of Education employees on sexual-assault charges.
