This week the United Federation of Teachers here in New York said they would be seeking years of back pay some say amounts to $3 billion.
In the Daily News, the head of the teacher’s union in the city, Michael Mulgrew
, summed up their argument, “for a long time without a raise.”
The union had less than a warm relationship with Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s successor and are seeking to set a better foundation going forward.
When asked for specifics the union head said that the union had agreed not to debate the mayor in public. “We think we can figure this out at a negotiating table,” added Mulgrew.
