Contentious Education Billboard will Be Removed

Clothing company Kenneth Cole said on April 30 that it will take down its billboard that could be interpreted as critical to teachers unions. Gotham Schools first broke the story on April 27, saying that the Cole slogan “Shouldn’t Everyone Be Well Red? Teachers’ Rights vs. Students’ Rights” related to the debate on whether bad teachers should be protected. In the most recent Gotham Schools article on the topic, Rachel Cromidas wrote that Kenneth Cole, a company owned by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s brother-in-law, ¬†admitted the issue was too complex for a billboard.
