New York’s Mayor Bloomberg has donated $1 million to a campaign to elect three Los Angeles school board candidates, the Los Angeles Times reported. The three candidates strongly support current L.A. schools Supt. John Deasy, and two of them are political opponents of the L.A. teachers union.
The money from Boomberg was poured into L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Coalition for School Reform, which backs Deasy’s plans to change the current system where teachers cannot be paid more money for exceptional work and cannot be easily fired for incompetent work. An L.A.Weekly blog also weighed in on the move.
