Micah Lasher, who helped to launch education advocacy organization StudentsFirstNY, announced on Monday that he was leaving his position as the group’s executive director to become state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s chief of staff. During its first year of operation, StudentsFirstNY, which is the the New York branch of Michelle Rhee’s political action committee, has lobbied for policies supported by Mayor Bloomberg, such as school closures and charter school co-locations.
