Parents Sue City For Failing to Hold Required Hearings

Parents have filed a lawsuit against the Department of Education for allegedly violating a law that requires the city to hold public hearings in each borough on how state funds should be allocated, according to the Daily News. The plaintiffs claim the city has been violating the state’s Contract for Excellence Law since 2008 by skipping out on the hearings. The city said it met its obligations by presenting its fund allocation plans at meetings of local elected school boards.
