President Barack Obama released his budget proposal for 2014 yesterday. The budget includes increases in Pell Grants and spending on Federal Work-Study and job-training programs at community colleges, reports the Chronicle of Higher Education. The complete education budget is outlined on the White House’s website, here. For a look at the education budget as compared to other agencies, visit the Washington Post. The budget release, which usually happens at the end of February, was delayed in part due to uncertainty over sequestration. The Chronicle of Higher Education’s article links to information on the impact of sequestration on higher education, high school students and unemployed workers, here.
