Just after the Common Core standards went national with only five states left to adopt them, the Washington Post is reporting that the initiative viewed as a great policy success for President Obama is coming under attack. A few states including Alabama, Indiana, Georgia, and South Dakota are either backtracking or considering to do so. Recently, the Republican National Committee voiced their opposition to the new standards by passing a anti-Common Core resolution. Proponents of Common Core worry that more politicians will withdraw their support for the initiative as election season comes around.
