Indiana Ousts Common Core

Indiana becomes the first state to withdraw from the national common core education standards on Monday, according to Time.com.

Indiana was among the 45 states to adopt the common core but has sided with conservatives who say the standards are akin to a government takeover of education.  The new standards that Indiana has adopted are still criticized as being too similar to common core, just with a different name.

Other states, such as Oklahoma, are also moving away from common core.
