The Money Trail Behind Charters and Unions

The review suggests the two camps are similarly backed: The United Federation of Teachers has $473,000 in funding, while the four major charter backers have amassed $338,000.

Parents are frustrated that their children often seem to be left out of the debate. “Both sides have their agendas to push,” said Mona Davis, a spokesperson for the Parents Union. “The regular parents are caught in the middle and we have these two institutional players who are fighting it out.”
