All 1.1 million school kids in the city will get copies of Microsoft Office to download on their home computers.
Students and their families will be able to download the word processing suite that includes Word, Excel and other programs free of charge for personal use.
The software will be good for up to five personal computers, plus five tablets and five phones for each family. It normally costs $99 per year.
