Chancellor Fariña takes preemptive steps against Opt-Out Movement

According to the New York Daily News who obtained a letter addressed to school principals Tuesday night, NYC Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña has urged principals to remind parents that the upcoming state tests have changed in response to concerns brought up last year.

The hope is that the letter will help dissuade parents from another opt-out movement last year where one in five New York students (primarily in Long Island and Upstate New York) boycotted the exams.
