District 75, which serves many of the city’s highest-need students with disabilities, is in search of a new superintendent. D75’s current leader, Gary Hecht, is retiring.
The announcement comes in the wake of a recent report by the NYC Department of Education acknowledging that 40 percent of the city’s students with special needs are not fully receiving the services they require.
