Newark the Next Flint? Newark Schools Begin Testing Children’s Lead Levels

The New York Times reports that a week after finding unsafe lead levels in the water in Newark, New Jersey, 30 of the district’s 67 schools have shut off their water and begun testing students to measure their exposure to the contaminant. Given the recent water crisis in Flint, Michigan, growing concerns over a similar issue in Newark and other parts of the country have families and schools taking immediate action.
