De Blasio’s budget boosts Beacon center social services in city’s public schools

Mayor de Blasio’s upcoming executive budget sets aside millions in increased funding for social services at Beacon centers in city schools and it includes an extra $5.7 million in 2017 and $16.8 million in subsequent years for the programs.

The city currently operates 80 Beacon centers in public schools across the five boroughs where students get after-school tutoring and help looking for jobs, among other services. Read more.
